A Pomodoro timer with pets: make focus feel rewarding
Octodoro gives your focus sessions a playful place to go: earn XP, grow your collection and hatch companions. Here is how the pet routine works and how to enjoy it while keeping the work itself at the centre.

What makes the timer gamified?
A gamified timer adds progression to the familiar work-and-break routine. In Octodoro, completed focus sessions earn XP and coins, while ordinary eggs placed in nests gain incubation progress from completed focus. Your octopus, pets and customisations give that progress a visible home.
The timer still has a simple job: help you give one task a defined block of attention. Choose what you will finish before pressing Start, then use the game features when you return from the work.
Meet your first companion
- Create a free account and follow the welcome setup for your username and octopus.
- Near the end of the tutorial, choose your welcome egg. If you skip the tutorial, the unclaimed welcome gift remains available in Hatchery.
- Claim the egg, then give it to the Hatch Master in your free Cozy Nest. Your starter egg is ready to hatch immediately.
- Hatch the egg to reveal your companion. Open Pets to view your collection and choose which pet to equip.
Use completed focus to grow your collection
Ordinary eggs work differently from the starter gift. Put an egg into a nest before settling down to study. Complete your focus sessions and save their reflections so the app can record the work and apply the eligible progress.
When the egg is ready, return to Hatchery and hatch it. Simply keeping an egg in storage is not the same as placing it in a nest. Treat hatching as a small moment between study blocks, rather than something to keep checking while the timer runs.
Try a focus-first reward routine
Before a session, write down one achievable result and check that any egg you want to work on is in a nest. Then close the collection and workshop. For the next session, the only target is the task you chose.
After you save the session, take your break. At the end of a larger study block, check the hatchery, equip a companion or customise your octopus. If collecting starts taking more time than studying, move all collection activity to the end of the day.
